Of all the thousands of images I've made over the years under the piers in Morro Bay, I keep going back to this one. It has become kind of iconic for me. It says so much about the tenacity of the marine life under those old piers. The ocean has a way of getting rid of unusable stuff quickly, but notice that the label on the discarded beer bottle is still good as new. It couldn't have been there for more than a few days and already two beautiful little metridium anemones are attached to the bottom of the bottle and waving their tentacles in search of food. This little scene, for me, is a tiny representation of the whole ecosystem in this amazing place.
